계시는 '드러남' 을 뜻한다.

인간이 스스로 계시를 발견하는 것이 아니다.

신에 의해서 수동적으로 받는 것이다.

창조 섭리 등의 객관적 수단으로 간접적으로 그 본성이 나타나는 경우를 자연 계시라고 한다.
