MND & 2ID celebrate 60th anniversary of alliance with concert
CAMP CASEY, South Korea – The ROK Ministry of National Defense and the 2nd Infantry Division held a concert Monday at Camp Casey to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty, signed after the Korean War.
대한민국, 캠프 케이시 – 대한민국 국방부와 미 제2보병사단은 지난 월요일 한국전쟁 후 체결된 정전협정 60주년을 기념하여 캠프 케이시에서 콘서트를 열었다.
More than 2,500 attendees, including service members, their families, and citizens of both the ROK and the U.S., participated in the event.
한국군과 미군 장병과 가족, 그리고 양국 시민들을 포함하여 2,500여명이 본 행사에 참여하였다.
The concert included performances by several opera singers, Crayon Pop, Dal★shabet, Wa$$up, B-Boy, Love and Peace, and featured both the ROK Army 28th Infantry Division and the 2nd Infantry Division bands.
콘서트는 오페라 가수들과, 크레용 팝, 달샤벳, 와썹, 비보이, 사랑과 평화, 그리고 대한미국 제28사단과 미2사단 밴드의 공연으로 이루어졌다.
Commanders from both the Third ROK Army 28th Infantry Division and 2ID attributed the success of the Alliance to the hard working men and women from both countries, and all the soldiers who came before them.
제3군단 제28사단장과 미2사단장이 한미동맹의 성공은 모두 양국의 성실한 국민들과 군인들 덕분이라는 것을 강조했다.
Soldiers from both militaries were eager to see the musicians perform, while enjoying the camaraderie shared throughout the audience.
한미 양국의 장병들은 관람을 하면서 생긴 우정에 기뻐하며, 가수들의 공연을 많이 기대하고 있었다.
“I am really happy and excited,” said 22-year-old Pv2. Jung Dae-hyun, of the ROK 28th Division Artillery. “This is my first time visiting U.S. Army camp and also it is my first time enjoying ‘visiting train’ concert. I was surprised when U.S. Soldiers said hello to me, even though they don’t know me. I feel that they are our friends.”
“저는 정말로 행복하고 기대됩니다,”라고 제28사단 소속 22살 정대현 이병이 말했다. “이번 방문은 제가 미군 부대에 처음이고 최초로 ‘위문 열차’를 관람하는 것입니다. 저는 모르는 사람임에도 불구하고 미군이 저에게 안녕이라고 인사를 건내는 것에 매우 깊은 인상을 받았습니다. 저는 그들과 우리가 친구라고 생각합니다.”
“I really appreciate all of the people who have helped with this special moment here at Camp Casey,” said Maj. Gen. Lee Soon-kwang, 28ID commanding general. “These kinds of special events continue our alliance and friendship, and together we will be strong.”
“저는 이번의 특별한 행사를 위해 도움을 준 모든 사람에게 감사하다고 이야기하고 싶습니다,” 라고 제28사단 사단장인 이순광 소장이 말했다. “이런 특별한 경험들은 한미동맹과 양국의 우의의 지속에 도움이 되며 함께라면 든든하다는 깨닫게 해줍니다.”
“With a relationship that began as brothers in arms more than 60 years ago, it is so wonderful that we take the opportunity to come together to celebrate this special partnership,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal, 2ID commanding general. “Events like tonight’s concert demonstrate that the ROK-U.S. Alliance is alive and well, and built on friendship and mutual respect.”
“60여년 전 전쟁을 같이 치르면서 형성된 동맹 관계와 함께 이번 행사는 소중한 동반자적 관계를 기념하는 좋은 기회라고 생각합니다,”라고 미2사단장 토마스 S. 밴들 소장은 말했다. “오늘밤과 같은 행사는 한미동맹이 여전히 굳건하다는 것을 상징하며 상호간의 존중을 바탕으로 성립했다는 것을 보여준다.”
